Create And Manage API Keys In Telnyx Customer Portal

Go to portal.telnyx.com

1. Introduction

First, head over to portal dot telnyx dot com and sign in. You'll land on your portal home page. There's a lot here, from product highlights to help guides, but we're after one specific thing, so let's go find it.

2. Access Customer Portal Home

Look up to the top right corner and click your profile icon. That opens a dropdown menu with your account details and a few handy shortcuts.

3. Open API Keys Section

Click "API keys" to navigate to the API keys management section.In that dropdown, click "API keys." This takes you straight into the section where you create and manage every key on your account.

4. Initiate API Key Creation

Now you're on the API Keys page. Since this is fresh, the list is empty. Click the "Create API Key" button on the right to kick things off. A small dialog will pop up where we'll set everything up.

5. Open Key Name Input

Inside the dialog, you'll see a "Tags" field. Click it and type a short label, something like "My key" or the name of the project this is for. Telnyx uses tags instead of a formal name, so this is how you'll recognize your key later in the list. It's optional, but trust me, future you will appreciate it.

6. Choose No Expiration Option

Next, decide how long the key should live. For a key you plan to keep using, click "No Expiration." If you'd rather have it shut itself off automatically down the line, you can choose "Set Expiration Date" instead and pick a day.

7. Create The API Key

Once your tag and expiration look right, click the "Create" button. Telnyx generates your brand new API key on the spot.

8. Access API Key Details

Here it is, your new API key. But read that warning at the top carefully. Telnyx is telling you to copy the key right now, because once you close this, you will never see the full value again. Lose it, and you'll have to start over with a brand new key. So take a second to grab it using the copy icon next to the key.

9. Copy API Key To Clipboard

The easiest way to finish is the "Copy to clipboard and close" button. One click copies your key and dismisses the dialog at the same time. Then paste it somewhere safe, like a password manager, before you do anything else.
