Configure API Access Tokens in Make Platform

Want to connect Make to your own app, an automation, or your agent? You'll need an API access token first. Think of it as the password your software uses to talk to Make securely, with exactly the permissions you grant it. In this quick guide, we'll create a token, give it the right access, and copy it for use. Let's head to us2.make.com and get started.

1. Introduction

Once you sign in, you'll land on your Make dashboard. Over the next few steps, you'll create and manage a token with the right permissions for your integrations. Let's start by heading into your profile.

Introduction

2. Access Make Dashboard

In the top-right corner, click your account avatar β€” the circle with your initials. This opens your account menu, where your profile settings live.

Access Make Dashboard

3. Open Profile Settings

From the menu that appears, click "Profile." This takes you into your user profile settings, where you can manage your account options and API access.

Open Profile Settings

4. Navigate to API Access

In the profile menu on the left, click "API access." This is where you manage your API tokens and the permissions tied to them.

Navigate to API Access

5. Initiate Token Creation

Since you don't have any tokens yet, you'll see "No items found." Click "Add token" in the top-right to start creating a new API access token.

6. Select All Permissions

The dialog shows a list of scopes β€” these are the individual permissions the token can have. To give the token full access, click "Select All," which checks every permission at once.

Select All Permissions

7. Name Your Token

Now scroll down to the Label field and type a name for your token, something like "My Token," so you can recognize it later. A clear name helps when you have several tokens for different integrations.

8. Add the Token

With your permissions and name set, click "Add." Make saves and creates your new API token with the scopes you chose.

9. Copy Token to Clipboard

Your token now appears in the list. Click "Copy to clipboard" to grab it, then paste it somewhere safe right away, like a password manager or your project's environment variables. That's the token you'll use to authenticate your integrations.

Copy Token to Clipboard

And that's it. You've created and configured an API access token in Make with the permissions you need, and copied it for use. You can now use this token to authenticate your integrations securely and manage access with confidence. Thanks for watching, and I'll catch you in the next video.
